R enjoyed it though! lol!
Another one got turned into a pumpkin head - very scarey!

Yeah, can't say as it floated my boat. We all tried it and my hubby was the only one who asked for seconds!
It was my son who described it as 'mashed suede on pastry... and that just isn't right!'

Yep! There seems to be only me and you who have an interest in gardening, although I bet there are a few out there who would like to know how to make cider...?

When I was a boy, well sixteen anyway, we used to ride our motorcycles to the Rhydefelin Public House in... well Rhydefelin. There we would drink about six pints of scrumpy, it cost 1/3d pint and had large bits of stuff floating in it. I presumed that it was apple. Then we would ride home at speed, I fell off twice and once the chain came off and wrapped round the back wheel. It was a James Captain sports, 200cc two stroke. I still have the scars and the liking for cider.

Crystal speaking of keeping a garden in Calverton, when we first moved there my dad dug the garden and had a bumper crop of everything the first year but nothing ever did well after that. There was a theory that because it had been farming land it was used to crop rotation. I don't know if that's true.
As far as the weeds are concerned I find if you boil the kettle and pour boiling water over some of the broadleaf stuff it kills them off without chemicals.
We're having a drop of rain at the moment (lovely for a change). We're overcome with slugs and snails. Having a small dog we don't want to put down pellets so I've convinced hubby that margarine containers with a bit of beer in them will fix the little blighters. He didn't believe me till he tried it - now he's out there three times a night checking his catch and doing very well. The lettuces and beans are starting to grow.
Can I have some advice about rhubarb please? Bearing in mind that even our winters are not cold - we've got a couple of rhubarb crowns that are growing lots of stalks but they are not turning pink. Is it possible that there is green rhubarb? Are we doing something wrong? I've picked some and stewed it and nobody's died yet but I'm a bit worried with the grandkiddies as I know rhubarb leaves are poisonous.
