My aunt used to make bean chutney. Very nice and sweet!
I've never made it myself.

In the past 2 weeks, I've had 3 carrier bags of beans off my plot!! They've all come at once with the cooler and wetter weather, but came too late for the horticultural show! Now we're having beans with everything!!!

Some helpful hints for December...
All those spring bulbs should be planted by now!
Don't leave terracotta pots out through the very cold months as they may crack during the frosty weather.
Don't spend an absolute fortune on mistletoe from the likes of Timmermans etc... just go down the Epperstone bypass on the way to Lowdham. The trees on the left hand side are usually full of the stuff - it may be handy to take a ladder with you (alternatevely, take the person you wish to kiss with you and just stand under the tree for a snog.

Cool! How are you doing? I've copied your bean chutney recipe! Hopefully, this years crop will be much better than last years! Got myself a part-time job now so it's going to be quite difficult juggling my time between work and the vegie garden out at Calverton. I shall have a good go though.

Some helpful hints for February... Enjoy the snowdrops and crocuses that should be appearing now. Also, there may be some daffs out very soon! If you've no snowdrops in your garden and you would like to see some snowdrops, visit Hodsock Priory near Retford. It's famous for its show of different varieties of snowdrop. There are also other varieties of winter flowers there.
